Packing Musts for Mykonos

What to bring on your Sweat Vacay retreat

…and what you can leave at home

This September is the month of Sweat Vacay retreats :D

Here’s all the deets on what you need to bring, what you can buy on the island, and what you can simply leave behind.

We’re loving this waterproof, purse-perfect SPF from Supergoop.

Def Pack

Let’s talk about sweat, baby. It’s summer in Greece and hot as hell. So you don’t melt during your hot girl summer, you’ll want to pack a hat, sunglasses, a bathing suit or two, cover ups, and sports sunscreen that is waterproof. You can 100% buy these items here on the island… but at what cost? Sunscreen is like gold here, and all these items will prove to be more expensive here than in New York.

For your daily workouts, you’ll want to pack sneakers and at least 5 athletic outfits. We’re also going on a hike. So pack some extra socks and maybe a tote bag.

For going out to town, pack two cute looks. And a layer in case the evenings are cool. The streets are all uneven… and honestly, it’s problematic for heels. Consider subbing wedges instead if you’re trying to reach new heights.

To bum around the villa, some PJs, and loungewear or a robe will do the trick. And it’s always a nice idea to pack a notebook or diary to document your journey. It will be nice to have when you have down time or before bed each night.

For length and volum, we’re currently into Urban Decay Perversion in waterproof black

If you’re the kind of girlie that rocks a full face of makeup to the beach, think waterproof all the way. It’s very sweaty out there, ladies. A liquid all day lip like L’Oreal’s Infallible ProMate Liquid Lip or Maybellene’s SuperStay Matte Ink are both tested, tried, and true.

And for other toiletries, don’t forget your razor and deodorant. As I’ve mentioned - it’s may caliente.

Money Talks

Also while all kinds of goodies are included in the retreat package, there are dining out, shopping, and clubbing opportunities that are on each guest to cover. So bring some Euros. While you can totally use your ATM card at any machine, there are always fees. It’s less expensive to get them from your bank a few days before leaving for your trip.

Take home the memories.

We’ll Provide

No worries about beach towels or little workout towels. We’ve got all that covered. We provide you with a custom Sweat Vacay mat as well. So no need to bring any extra equipment. If you’d like to keep your mat as a souvenir, they are 35 euros. They come in two designs and are very Insta-worthy.

We’ll leave you with a cute instant camera with film at the villa so you’ll all have take-home memories. These little pics are great for wallet or fridge. It’s seriously the best purchase our team has made - except for our spin bikes. Everyone loves this little guy.

In case you didn’t notice on the website, we’re providing epically beautiful villa accommodation. If you’d like to stay beyond the retreat dates, please let us know at Lauren@SweatVacay.com so we can arrange something just as lovely for the remainder of your vacation.

Leave It

All the water on the island is bottled as the water from the tap in non-potable. So leave your eco-friendly refillable water bottle at home. Your won’t be able to refill it from the sink here :(

Island vibes

While you’ll want to pack sandals, you’ll probably want to go home with a pair of handmade Greek leather Sandals. There are so many of these shops in Chora that make truly beautiful styles in all colors. Plus it’s never too early to do yyoyur holiday shopping. There are so many jewelry stores in town that have colorful gifts for everyone on your souvenir list. We’ll take you to all of our faves.

Getting technical

The plugs in Greece are different than in US, so snag a travel charger converter from the CVS to toss ion your bag for charging your phone.

If you want to do a device detox, simply keep your phone on airplane mode to not get charged for roaming. You’ll still be able to use the camera. Or if you plan on staying connected, ask your carrier about an international plan. AT&T has a $10 per day International package. It’s simpler than trying to get a Greek SIM for just a few days.

 See ya soon

We can’t wait to meet all of you. If you have any questions or concerns, please free to reach out. See yo win Mykonos.
